Pair of Large French Capodimonte Covered Vases

ca. 1900, decorated with relief-molded polychrome scenes of a Bacchanalian feast and mounted with ram's-head handles grasping grapevines, the covers decorated with a pair of putti, signed with an overglaze blue crowned "N" and "France".
h. 25", dia. 13"

Condition

The edge of one cover exhibits "touch-up" over gilding. Same cover has a chip to the inside of the rim. The other cover rim has some small scattered chips. There is a chip to one vase foot rim. There is an innate firing crack to the bucrania on one handle, and additional firing cracks to the inside base of both vases. Firing anomalies are as to be expected with material and production; minor chips and "touch-ups" are also commensurate with material, use and age. In overall good condition.
