French Fourteen-Piece Silver and Glass Vanity Set

first quarter 20th century, by Auguste Girardeau, Paris, with first standard (.950) silver fittings decorated with finely incised threading and monogrammed "OF", with fluted glass bodies, including two large round jars, dia. 2-7/8", two medium round jars, dia. 2-1/2", three small round jars, dia. 1-3/4", one tall round powder jar with silver puff bowl, dia. 3", two small square cologne bottles, w. 2", a large cologne bottle, w. 2-1/4", a tall rectangular jar, w. 2-5/8", a toothbrush box, l. 7-1/4", and a clock, h. 2-7/8".
14 pieces
16.21 total t. oz. (weighable silver)

In generally good used condition, except as noted. The toothbrush box has a 1" diameter crack on one short end of the glass. One cologne bottle has four spots of solder where the collar fitting has been reattached. One cologne bottle has a 1/2" square chip on one lower corner. The clock face has some discoloration around the perimeter. (The clock appears to be working but is not guaranteed.) Most pieces retain traces of gilding inside and out, though some were perhaps not gilded. All silver parts marked with the French post-1838 first standard silver "Minerva's head" mark and the "AG" and angel mark of Auguste Girardeau. A nice, well-made set.
