East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, 19th century CE. A fine wooden sculpture, hand-carved, of Taoist Guandi, god of war, depicted in their male form. The details of the clothing are wonderful and the pose is dynamic, with the figure standing, arms raised, read to fight. The figure has the remains of red enamel and gilt and stands atop a pedestal. Size: 8" W x 16.45" H (20.3 cm x 41.8 cm)
