Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 19th century CE. A gorgeous textile dance collar comprised of tightly-woven silken threads in hues of ruby, coffee, sapphire, pale jade, emerald, and coral. The interior panels illustrate a series of petite floral designs among a field of tendril-form vines, all atop a golden ground, with pale linear details in the surrounding areas. The exterior border is colored light-brown with large semicircular areas of serpentine dragons floating above floral fields. Worn around one's neck, it would be spun outwards in order to reveal the full beauty of the intricate designs. A beautiful example from Tibet! Size: 36" L x 36" W (91.4 cm x 91.4 cm).
