Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chimu, ca. 1000 CE. Three wonderful examples of Chimu textiles - the largest, a very colorful composition comprised of diagonal bands of a meander variant in hues of almond beige, golden caramel, chocolate brown, rose, forest green, and white; to its right is a vertically set panel featuring a row of interlocking stepped motifs and three rows of abstract zoomorphs - all in beige and white; and finally a horizontally set panel of meanders and geometric motifs in beige and cream at the top. All were comprised of cotton and/or camelid fibers. Set against a linen backing and custom framed under glass. Size: 23" L x 19" W (58.4 cm x 48.3 cm)
