North America, Native American, ca. 1000 BCE to 1500 CE. A group of seventeen well-crafted Native American stone items, most knapped from an easily-modeled stone, and one from a solid hardstone. Fifteen items are arrowhead forms, each with a sharpened point; some have stylized flared tails; some have either finely- or broadly-serrated edges, with all being either black, gray, or beige in color. A large and flat rectangular stone has two broad faces and a central drilled perforation, likely used for smoothing or knapping other stones, and another large beige stone has a form similar to an axe head. A beautiful collection of Native American stone-working! Size of largest (smoothing stone): 3.875" L (9.8 cm).
Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection, acquired before 2000
