This is a rare autographed limited edition 2/6 of a reprint by Novello and Co (p. 1889)of Robert Schumann (1810-1856) . When Schumann wrote Dichterliebe (Â‘A PoetÂ’s LoveÂ’) he was separated from his beloved Clara. Â‘They had some really, really difficult years. Dichterliebe, "A Poet's Love", is the best-known song cycle of Robert Schumann. This songbook is believed to have been possibly signed by Clara Schumann (spouse), to the owner of the book (Thomas Whoa) with the inscription of his name.The texts for the 16 songs come from the Lyrisches Intermezzo of Heinrich Heine, written 1822Â–23 and published as part of the poet's Das Buch der Lieder. Robert Schumann was a German composer and influential music critic. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers of the Romantic era. Dichterliebe, 'The Poet's Love' was composed in 1840 (Op. 48) and published by C.F. Peters in (1844).The other 5 editions of this book has not been located to date.
