Fine Quality Flintlock made by Johan Frantz Meidinger (1720-69) of Stockholm, marked on the lockplate; for Major-General Baron Carl Gustaf von Liewen (1748-1809), Capitaine a la Suite of the Royal Suedois in Paris, supporter of Gustaf III to end the Swedish revolution of 1772, commissary to Louis XVI of France, later serving on French ships for the American Revolution, also the war in Russia of 1788-1790. The pistol has his name inlaid in gold on top. 56 cal. 11" barrel, walnut stock. Shaped and engraved trigger guard and butt. 17 1/2" long overall. Converted to percussion, chip to stock, multiple old pins.
