"Whereas, Napoleon B. Buford of Illinois, Erskine McClallen of Cororado, Joseph Beals, Elisha Wells and others of Massachusetts, having acquired a large mining property on both sides of South Clear Creek, at Colona Bar, in the territory of Colorado, have associated themselves by articles of agreement in writing … for the purpose of mining gold and other ores, and developing the property aforesaid."
