A Chinese famille rose porcelain plate with a farming scene of 4 figures and an ox. The plate is quatrefoil-shaped and dates from the Daoguang period. There is a 6-character mark on the back, and the exterior is decorated with 4 bats. The scene is accompanied by 2 poems, each with 3 seals.
Dimensions are: 1 inch tall X 7 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: A few minor areas of paint wear, but otherwise in good condition.
Provenance: From the estate of Frederick C. McMillen. Mr. McMillen was sent to China by the US government after WWII to oversee rebuilding projects funded by UN grants. He worked closely with top Chinese Nationalist government officers in banking and finance sectors.
