John Albert Johnson, (1861-1909), American political leader, governor of Minnesota, b. St. Peter, Minn. In 1887, he became editor and half owner of the 'St. Peter Herald'. His editorials brought him into public notice, and in 1898 he was elected state senator. In 1904 he was elected governor. His progressive administration, gracious personality, and talent for speaking made him one of Minnesota's most popular governors.

Original cover oval portrait paste down of Johnson on cover (wear and soiling,slightly water damage; creased at hinges), binding is tight, 5.1/2" x 7.3/4", 430 pages (a little soiling), 20 photographs, the water stain around the blank edge of the photo plates, no smell, fair/good condition.
