Basset Huquier HAND-COLORED ENGRAVING ST. JEAN ST. PAUL VENICE c1760 Venise Daumont Lachaussee Optical Print Eglise Church Laid Paper

The reference 124ieme precedes the title. This work, published by James Gabriel Huquier circa 1760, offers an image of the Basilica di San Giovanni e Paolo, the principal Dominican church of Venice, with a large square before it, the Scuola Grande di San Marco in the background, and a canal, with gandolas, on the right-hand side. Groups of people are depicted milling about the square. An additional caption is placed directly below the main graphic, split to each side, and reads, "Presentement ches Lachausee rue S. Jacques, a Paris chez Daumont rue St. Martin." Apparently a printer’s error, the title across the top of the etching is printed in reverse.
Condition / Notes: This antique engraving, measuring approximately 16.75" X 11" as shown, presents beautifully with strong lines and bright coloring. There is some small amount of scattered light foxing and toning. Residual tape marks are visible at the top edge and on the left and right edges. The side edges have been folded under about 1" and the bottom about 1/2".

The stated shipping cost in this listing will apply only to addresses within the continental 48 states. Within those parameters, the shipping cost for this lot will be: $8.50
