Charles Schorre (American/Texas, 1925-1996), "Second Chance Cloudance [sic]", 1991, oil on canvas, signed lower right, dated lower left, 48 in. x 72 in., unframed. Provenance: Meredith Long Gallery, Houston, TX, 1991. Note: Charles Schorre has worked as a photographer, graphic designer, and art teacher, and he often integrates his many artistic interests into his paintings. Drawing on his design background to exploit the elements of collage and create depth in his compositions, Schorre also utilizes vivid colors to capture a sense of energy through what he refers to as a simple “interest in mark making.” His paintings, such as the work offered here, are deeply rooted in nature and have been described as “a celebration of the natural world through wild expressionistic color.”
