Description
1863 Les Misérables 1st Theatre edition Victor HUGO French Literature Valjean Paris & Brussels SET

“Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.” ― Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

The best-known and oft-considered greatest French writer is unarguably Victor Hugo. His romance novels and stories have withstood the test of language and time. His most famous work, ‘Les Miserables’, has been transformed into film, theatre, and opera.

Printed in 1863, one year removed from the first issue, this first ‘theatre’ edition is extremely desirable and rare. It is also the first time ‘Les Mis’ appeared in-12 format. A rare and charming set!
