δ Hitler.- Nazi Germany.- Fearon (Percy Hutton) "Poy" "Hitler in Fatherland", pen and ink cartoon, pencil caption beneath, showing Hitler dressed as Alice with extra long arms and neck, while eating a giant biscuit that is inscribed 'Prussian Diet', with quote from Alice in Wonderland in the upper right that reads: '"Curiouser and curiouser!" cried Alice; "now I'm opening out like the largest telescope that ever was!"', signed, 355 x 290 mm., 1932.

⁂ Despite losing the Presidential election in March 1932 to Paul von Hindenburg, Hitler's NSDAP won 37.3% of the popular vote in the federal election of July 1932 (an upswing by 19 percentage points), becoming the largest party in the Reichstag. Despite his re-election Hindenburg failed to prevent the Nazis from assuming power, and he reluctantly appointed Hitler as Chancellor of Germany in January 1933.
