Description
Three CDVs of Post-War Identified Officers, all 33rd Infantry acquaintances of General Thomas Ruger. First is Brevet Brigadier General Carroll H. Potter by Wearn & Hix, Columbia, S.C. Potter (confirmed in Hunt) served as Captain, AAG on the staff of Stoneman, Heintzelman, and Hooker during the war. He was brevetted in March 1865 and remained in the army through the Spanish-American War. Next is Lt. Colonel Augustus W. Corliss by Biddle's, Macon, Ga. signed on verso, With compliments,/A.W. Corliss/33rd Inf. Corliss was Lt. Colonel of the 2nd RI Cavalry until his resignation in July 1863. He joined the 15th US Infantry as a private in March 1865 and stayed in the army until he retired in March 1901 as lieutenant colonel. Last is a civilian view of J.W. Powell/33rd Infty by F. Kuhn, Atlanta. Powell served in the 13th OVI and 1st OVI before transferring to the 10th USCT as captain in November 1863. He died in service in May 1884.
