Lot 0266 Details

Description
Three CDVs of Identified Officers, including two 3rd Wisconsin officers with a 2nd New Jersey Lt. Colonel, all wartime acquaintances of General Thomas Ruger. The first carte is a sword-carrying 1st Lieutenant ink-signed on verso Theo. J. Widvey by Brady. Widvey joined Company K, 3rd Wisconsin in April 1861 and was wounded and captured at Cedar Mountain on August 9, 1862. He resigned in March 1863. The second CDV is a wartime civilian view by E. Crockett, Rockland, ME. of Captain William M. Snow, Company H., 3rd Wisconsin having a lengthy ink salutation on verso that reads, Rockland, Me./Jany. 3. 1865/Genl. T.H. Ruger/Please accept this/as a token of a/rememberance [sic] which/I shall always be/pleased to cherish./Truly Wm. M. Snow. Snow enlisted as a private rising to captain in November 1863. He was wounded at Cedar Mountain in August 1862 and again at Dallas, Georgia on May 25, 1864. He resigned shortly thereafter. The New Jersey officer is Lt. Colonel Eugene W. Guindon signed as "Maj & A.D.C." in ink beneath portrait. Guidon enlisted in the 2nd New Jersey as sergeant in May 1861 and mustered out as brevet lt. colonel in November 1865.
