Lot 0288
Included in this lot for bidding is a Winchester Model 70, Bolt Action rifle, chambered in 300 Winchester Magnum. The Mod. 70 was largely based off of the Model 54, and was nicknamed "The Rifleman's Rifle". Additionally, the Mod. 70 was coined as the "Bolt Action Rifle of the Century" by Shooting Times Magazine, in 1999. The Model 70 began production in 1936, with this example originating from 1966-1967. This fine rifle utilizes cut-checkered texture on the synthetic fore-grip and grip, 24" stainless steel barrel, a gorgeous jeweled bolt, and a Nixon 3--9x40 scope. The rifle is marked in numerous places, reading; "-MADE in New Haven, CT U.S.A.-Winchester ® Model 70 -300 WIN. MAGNUM." on the left side of the barrel, "Winchester Trademark" on the padded rubber butt-plate, "Winchester -Trade Mark-" on the left side of the receiver, and "G127763" on the right/front of the receiver. Overall, the rifle shows very good mechanical condition, and good aesthetic condition. The rifle has a fantastic BRIGHT bore, with very strong rifling, and a tight, smooth action. The rifle has no tarnish on the stainless steel. The synthetic butt-stock and fore-grip shows some light wear from use, and transport. Comes with black mesh sling. This rifle qualifies as a Curio & Relic Long Gun, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: G127763
