A hard to find Earthworm Decorated Mocha Ware Porter Mug with its original lid, c. 1840. 3-color earthworm decoration on a blue slip ground and 3 narrow black slip bands top and bottom. Lid is also decorated with the earthworm motif on a blue slip ground. Foliated applied handle and button finial on the lid. 5 ¾” high to the top of the finial and the mug is 4” in diameter. The mug shows extremely well, and retains a “Russell Schneider Antiques” label on the bottom. It has been restored, and the restoration is both professional and excellent. It was restored when I acquired it, so I do not know exactly what has been done to it, but my guess would be to lines/cracks in the side and perhaps the finial. It makes a great display piece and is an example of a most.
