Diploma di Laurea in Medicina a Padova. Manuscript on vellum, Padua 1785

Small 4to, 232x160 mm; Contemporary full calf binding with cold blind tooling, concentric frames and geometric decorations on the plates, marbled inside covers. 4 sheets in vellum, the first is blank. Two ornaments drawn with brown and black ink on the recto of the second sheet, text within linear frame with double rule. Clear handwriting of canchery in brown ink. Signatures of Professors in black ink at the end of the diploma. Other annotations with different signatures and dates, 1789, 1790 and 1803 in the last sheet, verso and recto. Excellent state of conservation.


Diploma of graduation in Medicine of the University of Padua, dated 12 September 1785. The graduate is Domenico Abruzi, son of Pietro. The eminent Professors, who all have a prominent role in the history of medicine of the eighteenth century, place their signatures on the verso of the second sheet and are: Leopoldo Marco Antonio Caldani, physiologist and anatomist; Giovanni Della Bona, professor in Practical Medicine; Camillo Bonioli, surgeon; Giovani Sografi, professor of Practical Surgery at the hospital; Giovanni Marsili, botanist and director of the Garden of Padua; Marco Carburi, Professor of theoretical chemistry, first professor of Chemistry at the University of Padua. Finally the privilege of the Health of Venice on 27 July 1789.
