Lot 1570
SHIRO TSUJIMURA (b. 1947)
Yabure double jar, Japan
Glazed stoneware, copper liner
Signature to vase, muslin wrap, and box
11 1/2" x 25" x 15"
"Yabure" refers to the natural explosion or collapse of a piece during firing. The artist allows pieces to touch and fuse in the kiln, and their subsequent interaction and separation is part of the work. Such results exemplify his zen beliefs as well as the Japanese aesthetic of "wabi-sabi," which centers on one's acceptance of transience and imperfections.

Condition

Complete with original box and a copper cylinder that can be inserted into the vase to hold flowers. Excellent condition. Imperfections throughout all occurred during manufacture, as per the intention and process of the artist.
Condition reports are rendered as specialist opinion by the staff of the Auction House and/or independent consultants and not as statements of fact. We do not guarantee the content of written or verbal condition reports. The absence of a condition report does not imply that there are no condition issues with the lot. ?? ?Please call us at (609) 397-9374 or e-mail info@ragoarts.com with any questions about this lot at least 24 hours prior to auction.?
