A GROUP OF FOUR JAPANESE GILT AND POLYCHROME ENAMEL DECORATED ARITA STYLE PORCELAIN VASES, 20TH CENTURY, comprising a small baluster form vase with orange glazed floral and butterfly decoration to the interior of the lip, the body with double paneled reserves outlined in cobalt blue, the upper with a flying bird, the lower with a bird sitting on the branch of a flowering tree alternating with stylized floral and fruit decoration, in traditional shaded red, orange and blue palette with gilt highlights, mid-late 20th century, unmarked, height: 7"; a baluster form jar with alternating reserve panels of a blossoming tree behind a fence on white ground, and a flying bird on orange and white ground, with rosettes on blue ground at the neck, early 20th century, unmarked, height: 5"; a large baluster form vase with alternating shaped cobalt outlined reserves of a vase with flowers and a flowering tree, "orchid" mark of the Fukagawa Koransha porcelain factory, Arita, late 20th century, height: 9 7/8"; and a small baluster form vase with all over stylized floral decoration, together with carved Indonesian style teak stand, unmarked, height of vase: 5 1/2".

Condition

In overall good condition with minor surface rubbing and wear commensurate with age and use; the jar originally with a lid, now missing; the large vase with drilled bottom.
