EDWARD MOSES LEVETUS (British w. 1892) A GEORGE V PERIOD STERLING SILVER PRESENTATION PLAQUE ON WOODEN BOX, BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND, 1916, the rectangular plaque with chased repoussé decoration of acanthus scrolls and floral blossoms centering a cartouche form reserve engraved "1908, JUNE 26th, WITH EVERY LOVING, GOOD WISH FROM, MOTHER AND ARTHUR, FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY," stamped on the border (anchor), (lion passant), "EML," "r" (gothic), height: 9 5/8", width: 6 5/8"; mounted on later ebonized hinged wooden box with gilt border, retaining partial label "Manufactured By, Aristo Plaques, of Hollywood," height: 2 3/8", width: 10 1/4", depth: 7 1/4". Provenance: The personal collection of Colonel Frederick Gustavus Burnaby, member of the Royal Horse Guards, a cavalry regiment of the British Army.


The plaque in overall good condition, with minor bending along the edges, minor surface scratching and rubbing commensurate with age and use; the box top and base not originally together and with surface scratching and rubbing.
