UTAGAWA HIROSHIGE (JAPANESE, 1797-1858) WOODBLOCK 9th month of 1857; Edo Period (1615-1868); Polychrome woodblock print, ink & color on paper; “Sudden Shower over Shin-Ohashi bridge and Atake”; Plate #58 of the series “One Hundred Famous Views of Edo”; Depicts a part of the wooden Ohashi (Great) over the Sumida River; on the water a boatman is punting his log raft towards the Fukagawa timber yards, the far bank of the river is a part of Edo known as Atake, men and women are on the bridge trying to protect themselves from the sudden shower; Not framed, but set on white mat; Two seals in upper right margin, signed with artist seal lower left “Hiroshige-ga” ; Condition - Very good condition, no rips or tears ; Measures: 14.5"H x 9.75"W; Mat: 18"H x 12.5"W
