Cal. 76. NSN. Bbl. 39 1/4". A fine example of a P1793 (3rd Model) Bess of the Type 1 India Pattern. Bbl. has 3 proof marks near the breech that include 2 crowned "X" marks & a crowned "4". Lock has a crowned "GR" under the pan & "TOWER" behind the hammer. There is an additional partially obscured crowned proof mark under the pan. Unreinforced cock. Brass trigger guard, buttplate, rounded sideplate, entry thimble, bbl. thimbles & nosecap. Iron sling swivels & ramrod. CONDITION: bbl. has a dark mottled partially cleaned finish. Lock has a dark patina w/ evidence of pitting under the pan. Hammer is a bit loose & holds only 1 cocking position. Brass has a mellow patina. Front sling swivel is broken. Ramrod appears a bit too long for this gun. Stock has a 1" sliver missing in front of the lock & has expected dents & dings. Fair bore. (01-15023/BF). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,500.
