BAYONET. Cal. 45-70. S# 22649. Bbl. 32 5/8". Custer range carbine refurbished by Springfield Armory. Model 1879 rifle rear sight. High arch 1873 breechblock. 2 Band long comb walnut stock w/ partially visible cartouche. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: trowel bayonet. Approx. 10,000 trowel bayonets were mfg. & issued between 1868 through the late 1870's. Proper style wooden cleaning rod measuring 38 1/2" overall length w/ 1 7/8" dia. non slip 2 groove wood ball handle. CONDITION: bbl., receiver & stock finish has faded to mottled gray/brown showing spots of surface corrosion & very light pitting. Breech block & top tang retain sm. amounts of faded case colors. Refinished stock shows numerous dents, scratches & marks. Bore has strong rifling showing sm. spots of light pitting. Trowel bayonet has lightly faded blue on shank showing spots of surface corrosion & light pitting. Blade has age darkened appearance w/ spots of surface corrosion. (01-15048/DS). ANTIQUE. $800-1200.
