Graceful example of a New England mfg. secondary U.S. militia musket w/ combination of military & civilian styling. "R. Ashmore/Warranted" engraved percussion conversion trade lock. Full length walnut stock fastened w/ 3 keys. Stock is trim & graceful w/ thin fluted comb. Brass fittings include buttplate w/ stepped 3 1/2" peak, trigger guard w/ plain finial, sideplate & 3 sets of key escutcheons. Top of wrist is adorned w/ engraved German silver oval plate surrounded by silver wire inlay. Button tipped iron ramrod held by faceted brass thimble & 2 faceted pipes. Top mounted bayonet lug is located 1" from muzzle. Modern replacement nipple. Weight: 7 lbs. CONDITION: bbl. finish has faded to light gray patina. Lock has dull blue coloration.
