Custom rifle based on a military rolling block action. Trigger guard marked "44 ACE". Actions screws have simple line added engraving. Hooded post front sight w/ elevator adjustable sporting rear sight. Brass tipped hardwood cleaning rod is held by 2 plain iron bands. Key fastened walnut forearm has spade shaped brass escutcheons & scalloped brass forearm cap. Perch belly walnut stock has crescent steel buttplate. CONDITION: bbl. & action have faded gray cold blue finish. Stock finish shows some scratches & marks. Bright bore has near excellent rifling. (01-15026/DS). 2) SPRINGFIELD 1879 TRAPDOOR. Cal. 45-70. S# 193290. Original bbl. shortened to 24 5/8" length. Custom rifle w/ styling like the 1866 Allin "Officer's Sporting Rifle". Blade front sight w/ Vernier tang sight. Dbl. set triggers. Key fastened cheekpiece stock of curly maple has brass escutcheons, nosecap & crescent buttplate. Curled trigger guard is German silver. Iron tipped hardwood cleaning rod held by 2 plain pipes on iron under-rib. CONDITION: metal has dull gray color from cold blue finish. Stock has good reddish toned finish showing scratches & handling marks. Trigger is adjusted to allow firing only in set position. Bore retains intact rifling w/ darkened appearance & spots of light pitting. (01-15027/DS). BOTH ANTIQUE. $700-1000 for lot.
