A classic example of Indo-Persian plate & mail armor of mid thigh length from the 18th or early 19th century. Front of shirt has 2 sm. plates & 2 lg. plates w/ 3 attachment hooks on each. Sleeves are full length. Back has 3 rows of articulated plate armor bordered by 2 sm. plates similar to the front. Right hand lg. front plate has Indo-Persian characters engraved on the inside. There is a sm. lead seal possibly a makers mark at the lower front left section of the shirt. CONDITION: metal generally shows a medium gray patina. Only a scant few links are missing, particularly bordering the plates. Overall condition is exceptional considering its age. (02-10609/BF). $700-1200.
