Backdrop is a camp scene on a river w/ a paddlewheel riverboat midstream. Image is housed in a thermoplastic case. CONDITION: image is quite sharp. Matte is undamaged. Case shows minor chipping to the edges. 2) CDV. Image is a standing, knees up view of a Union colonel wearing a double breasted frock coat w/ sword belt, sash & M1850 staff & field officers sword. Officer is identified on the rear of the card as "Col Lucious B. Marsh of the 47th Mass." infantry. Back mark of card is "J.W. BLACK 173 WASHINGTON ST BOSTON.". Marsh was instrumental in the formation of the 47th Mass & was subsequently elected its colonel. The 47th served primarily in Mississippi & New Orleans in the 19th Army Corp, Department of the Gulf.
