Walter Griggs Homemade Marbel's Hatchet; this is a very unique piece showing very fine workmanship and interesting history. The hatchet is a Marbel's #9 head, from the famed knife and weapon maker in the Upper Pennisula of Michigan; to the head is welded a finely finished stainless steel handle. The fabrication of this piece was accomplished by the well known knife maker, Walter Grigg. Mr. Grigg worked in the Randall Shop for Bo Randall and after leaving the Randall Shop, made knives under his own name. Mr. Grigg is credited with making the first Randall Bear Bowie in stainless. (The knife is now in the Randall Museum.) The stainless work and welding on this hatchet is of the highest workmanship. The small axe has a rubber tip on the handle and a leather sheath. A letter From Mrs. Grigg stating that this piece was handcrafted by her husband will be provided to he winning bidder. All are in excellent condition, the hatchet measures 4 1/2" W (at the head) and 12 1/4" L.
