Signed Korean Oil on Canvas Portraits (2): Set of two Korean oil on canvas portraits of men smoking opium pipes. Contemporary artist depicting traditional life and attire in Korea. Both have an artist chop and are by the same artist. Dimensions are: both paintings are 17 7/8 inches tall X 15 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
Provenance: From the family estate of Leaford C. Williams of Washington D.C. Williams was born on in 1924 in Jamaica. He came to the United States in 1948 where he had a successful career as a foreign service officer, a public affairs officer and as the assistant to director White House Conference on Small Business. He was stationed in Taegu, Korea, and was a cultural attache in Bombay, India. He also served as a public affairs officer American Embassy, Seoul, Korea. In addition to his service, Williams authored several books. Condition: They are in good overall condition, but would benefit from some cleaning.
