Four Damascus screw barrels, the breech ends and asjoining frame are numbered 1 through 4, respectively. Liege and crown over "D" proofs. Breech engraved with panels of florals. Frame engraved with rocaille; the sides with panels of birds, the top with a devil's mask. Features a steel ring trigger and the gripstrap is marked "Mariette/Brevette". Fluted ebony gripscales with central intaglio-carved scrollwork panel. Complete with original rose velour-lined rosewood case. The brass-banded lid with ebony rim and central wooden cartouche carved with scrolls. Fitted interior contains powder flask (Riling #124), barrel-shaped cap box and single cavity mold with the handle terminating in a nipple wrench and barrel lug. CONDITION: Fine. Bright steel has been lightly cleaned and shows minor wear to some markings. Nipples and striker retain much of fire-blued finish. Excellent grips. Case lid shows several small and two long grain cracks. Lining shows some fading and minor wear. Accessories are fine to excellent. PROVENANCE: Keith Neal Collection, Joseph A. Murphy Collection.
