Lot contains: A) British Navy Officer's Box containing bicorn (fore and aft) hat, gold bullion Captains epaulets and Rear Admiral's shoulder boards. Epaulettes mounted with anchors and crowns and marked "Gieves Limited" on the reverse black leather. Sealskin hat with gold wire cockade and tassels. Interior of hat is marked "Gieves Ltd/ 21. Old Bond St London/ and at/ 118, Princes St Edinburgh". Gilt shoulder boards with star, sword and crown insignia. Black Japanned fitted metal box measures 18" by 9" by 9" painted in the lid "R.S. Wellby/ R.N.". CONDITION: Epaulettes show wear on the reverse, hat and shoulder boards are in excellent condition. Tin box shows wear to the painted surface. B) Chilean Navy Admiral's Full Dress epaulettes, bicorn (fore and aft) hat and sash housed in their original Japanned metal case. Red wool-faced epaulettes with gilt bullion leaves and silver anchor decorations, reverse black leather backing embossed "G. Kenning & Son (Makers) London, E.C.1.". Fore and aft sealskin hat with gilt wire cockade, gilt edging, white leather sweatband and silk lining embossed "Geo. Spencer Ordnance Rd The Hard Portsmouth". Blue and gold silk sash with gilt wire tassels. Japanned fitted metal box measures 18" by 7-1/2" by 9-3/4". CONDITION: The metal case showing moderate wear, the contents remain in excellent condition. C) Japanned box measuring 6-1/2" by 12-3/8" and 3-1/4" deep. The top with brass makers label "Hawkes & Co, 14 Piccadilly London" and another reading "W.S. Bentinck Esq. Rifle Brigade". CONDITION: Very good. From the Ray Bentley collection.
