Lot 0431
The heavy boots of thick leather are complete with their heavy 17th century rowel spurs and fitments. The soles of very heavy leather appear to be original to boots. The boots are 22-1/2" high. Lateral loops for fastening boots to saddle are intact on right boot. Both boots with their original spurs. These are rare cut-proof and impact-proof boots worn by European Cuirassiers in battle and are particularly appropriate to exhibit with a black and white or other type of later half armor. Included in the lot are a pair of iron stirrups that appear to be of the period. CONDITION: Overall very good for a pair of these scarce boots with expected losses similar to boot pictured in Stone's Glossary as figure 394, page 312, described as German 16-17th century, then in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Likely the only pair of these boots to have been sold in the United States in the past fifty years. A rare opportunity to acquire a true arms and armor rarity. Condition: Dimensions:
