THE PRACTICAL LATIN GRAMMAR SIMPLIFIED BY PELLISSON

Pellisson, Jean - Despautere, Jean. Very scarce edition of Despautere Latin grammar, simplified by Pellisson.

The book includes also Ioannis Pellissonis Condriensis De modo examinandae constructionis in oratione, dialogus interloquutores, praeceptor, & discipulus (leaves 158-167).

Jean Pellisson (1500-1599), teacher, was master of College de la Trinite, from 1533 to 1535 before being called to lead the College of Tournon.

Jean Despautere (about 1460-1520) was a Belgian grammarian, also known as Jean Le Ninivite.

Provenance: Contemporary owner's inscription at first paste-down: Addi 5 Febraro 1562 io Metello comprai [...] da Sauro Libraro e mi costò grossi quatro(«The day 5th of February 1562, I Metello bought [...] from Sauro bookseller, and it costed four coins»). 2. Another later inscription at last fly-leaf: Est liber e(st) meus qui vocor Vespasianus («This book is mine, that I'm called Vespasianus»)
