An Interesting French Military Flintlock Pistol Model ‘AN 9’, ‘PISTOLET DE GENDARMERIE’ Converted to Percussion in the 1850’s. The 5” long, .60 caliber smooth-bore Octagon-to-round steel barrel is stamped with two (unidentified) PROOFS and the number ‘27’. Standard Pattern steel furniture. Original steel button head ram rod. Its lock plate has an unidentified stamp just in front of the hammer. The stock has the number ‘121’ stamped just the behind the rear of the side lock screw, with a small chip missing from the the lower front edge of the lock mortise, otherwise this pistol is solid with normal light scratches and dings from years of actual use in service. This pistol measures 10” overall and is in fine mechanical working order. A nice example that may have likely been used in the Napoleonic Wars.
