(4) JOHN W ALEXANDER (USA, 1856-1915) EMERY PRINTS John Whit Alexander was active in New York/New Jersey; He commissioned a set of (6) Lunette Murals after “The Evolution of the Book” for the Library of Congress in 1896, a year before it opened. Each mural depicts the evolution of man through history. This lot contains “The Cairn”, “Egyptian Hieroglyphics”, “Oral Tradition” and “Picture Writing”. Each is marked in the lower left corner “COPYRIGHT 1896 BY JOHN W ALEXANDER”; Each print is adhered to board and they are not framed ; Condition - Edges show signs of wear from age ; Measures: 20"H x 30"W
