Lot 0969
Signed and includes clubhouse information on the last page! This should be in a museum! This is just one of the amazing items our consigner received from his good friend Dick Young, iconic sportswriter for the New York Daily news. Pages and pages of games for the 1969 Mets. The book is about two thirds full. No reserve. Provenance: From our consigner who was given these items from Dick Young. Dick Young 1917 – 1987 was a sportswriter best known for his direct and sometimes abrasive demeanor, with over 40 years with the New York Daily News. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame, and was a former president of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Young was the first sportswriter to treat the clubhouse as a central and obvious equation in the sports "beat". He was a success at digging up information and insights from within the previously private sanctum of the team. Other reporters stated: "He's the guy that started it, the guy who went into the locker room, and that changed everything.”
