Spanky The Newsboy Seymour Mann Porcelain Doll

Lot 0007
Spanky The Newsboy Seymour Mann Porcelain Doll; Spanky the Newsboy is a charming depiction of a little boy from decades past who sells Newspapers on the street. This Newsboy was designed by a foremost American doll artist, Hal Payne, and represents this artist's first foray into the medium of porcelain. Hal Payne has done much of his doll making in the medium of wood. Spanky is a porcelain, soft body, limited edition 1500 doll produced by the Seymour Mann company for their Signature Series, which showcased leading doll artists. Spanky wears wool knickers and cap with a pull over sweater, suede high top laced shoes and carries a suede Newspaper bag filled with rolled newspapers. He can be posed with one foot up on the wooden crate to make a credible vignette, and he comes with a wooden oval stand. The doll measures at 18" L and includes the original box.
