ENGLISH MASON'S IRONSTONE CERAMIC ARTICLES, LOT OF FIVE, comprising a 6 3/4" HOA vase having molded handles with faces and gilt highlights, an 8" D octagonal underplate with raised center and having "Japan Basket" pattern, a 6 3/4" HOA pitcher with "Japan Basket" pattern and impressed mark "IRONSTONE / CHINA", and two cylindrical mugs with blue transfer "Japan Basket" pattern having molded serpent handles and blue printed "MASON'S / PATENT IRONSTONE / CHINA" on underside. Each with Imari-style color palette and underglaze blue transfer floral decoration. Second quarter 19th century.
Undamaged, except for some losses to enamel and gilt decoration. Pitcher with firing separations, as made.
