Imperial & Important Chinese Silk & Gold Metal-Thread Ningxia Dragon 'Temple-Carpet' (Signed: 'Tian Tan Yu Yong' = Made For The Imperial Use Of The Temple Of Heaven) 'Qing Dynasty', West China, 19th century, pure natural silk/gold-metal-threads/cotton- foundation, approx. 280 x 188 cm, condition: 2 (good condition, professionally cleaned), (provenance: from a private collection), important signed chinese Ningxia dragon temple-carpet with expressive colors, 'five' five-clawed dragons hunting the flaming-peal on gold-metal brocaded ground with symbol ornamentation, multicolor water-wave border, the cartouche of this important rug with old chinese writings indicates that this piece is made for the imperial use for the temple of heaven (the temple of Heaven is one of the most important temples in Beijing and served the emperor as a place of pray for a good harvest and for honoring the gods.
