The son, Edward D. Lacy, wrote a touching and thankful letter of 2 folded pages, 8" wide by 9 3/4" tall, written both front and back on the 2 pages making a total of 4 written pages, telling of camp life, food, clothing, church attendance, and missing the family. The soldier was around Richmond, Va., the mother, Miranda lacy was in Buena Vista Alabama, the date of the letter is hard to determine as the upper corner of the page with the last letter of the date is missing. Edward D. Lacy enlisted in 1861 5th Infantry Co. C from Alabama.
