Northern Europe, Viking or Norse culture, ca. 8th to 11th century CE. A beautiful double-stranded bracelet composed of twisted high-grade (98-99%) silver wire. The bracelet wires were first twisted and impressed with a corded pattern and then wrapped around a large pole to form the overall shape. The smooth strips between the textured areas are embellished with hammered circular dots, and the terminals are fused together to create a solid joint. A fabulous and wearable example of fine Viking artistry! Size (bracelet): 3.25" Diameter (8.3 cm); size (wrist opening): 2.9" Diameter (7.4 cm); quality of silver: 98 to 99%; total weight: 49.4 grams.
