Description: Princess Elizabeth's baby vest and printed cotton knickers, circa 1929, the simple white lawn vest, labelled 'Hayford, Sloane St', with Royal warrant, with self-covered buttons to shoulder and waist, chest 66cm, 26in; the printed cotton pink and white knickers with elasticated waist and legs; together with a copy of a photograph taken by Marcus Adams of the infant Princess standing on a sofa wearing a similar underwear ensemble and a bead necklace, and a copy of a letter on Sandringham House stationery acknowledging the vendor's possession of the clothes on behalf of H.M. The Queen (3) Provenance: Originally in the possession of Clara (Allah) Knight the Royal nanny from 1926. Previously loaned to the Bexhill Museum from 1990-2007.
Condition Report: Vest - numerous damp/rust marks and two small darned repairs. Knickers - brightly coloured but plain cream cotton has been let in at the sides to widen. Scattered speckled brown rust spots to crotch area on one side.
