Victorian Chinese Export Ebonized Work Table
mid-19th century, the rounded rectangular top with a dragon-decorated band, opening to an interior fitted with various compartments, some lidded, and a central lift-out tray, above a pull-out fabric storage well, raised on pierced lyre-form supports joined by a turned stretcher and ending in gilt paw feet, the whole richly decorated in gilt designs in the chinoiserie manner.

In overall very good condition. The piece retains most all of its gilt surface treatment, with some losses,
inpainting and repairs, most notably to the vertical edge of the top. Gilt on feet renewed. Normal
shrinkage, wear and use, with polishing sometime in the last generation or so.
Functional and sturdy.
Lock is present; key is not.
Lid opens and closes freely, and the bag drawer opens freely.
