The LeCoultre QuarterMaster was manufactured for the US market in the 1950s. It is a rare watch to find and they do not come up for sale very often, certainly not in such a good condition.
The owner of this watch acquired it from the Halifax harbor before presenting to our Auction house.
The present example is in great condition and has been freshly serviced. The stainless steel case appears to have never been polished. It has
The black gloss gilt dial is in excellent shape and remains a strong black, no tropical browning in sight. The polished applied Arabic numerals and dagger markers really make for a unique look, somehow manage to strike the perfect balance and not overcrowd the dial.
The lume in the hands was the weak point and was removed during the service; the dial was also cleaned to remove the lume dust.
Everything is original on this watch, the only part that required to be replaced was a wheel in the mechanism and the crown, which was replaced with an authentic LeCoultre. Note that the original crown is included with the watch.
With only 2500 examples are ever made and the only 24-hour watch ever created by Jaeger-LeCoultre as in a true 24 hours, where the hour hand makes one rotation per day.
A must have for any respectful JLC Collector!
