The ancient Romans typically made oil lamps using clay. Into one hole was poured the oil, whilst a second hole housed the wick. Designs varied widely. On this lamp was incised a wreath-like motif. The exact age of this piece is uncertain, but was made no later than the 5th century A.D. Dimensions: about 5" x 3.5" x2". Note: repair in top center area. $100.00 reserve JC-30101-22
