ETTORE CASER, (New York, 1880-1944), Oil/Board, Sailboats in a Harbor, 18 ¾ inches by 30 inches, signed “E. Caser” lower right, in a wood frame measuring 22 inches by 33 ¼ inches overall. Bears label, verso, from Harry Hyman’s Sutton Place Frame Shop, NYC circa 1941.
Caser was born in Venice, Italy and developed his style in that tradition. He was persuaded to come to America by the artist Herman Dudley Murphy. He worked in NYC as well as Boston and Chicago. His memberships/exhibitions include: National Academy of Design (member), Salmagundi Club (member), Boston Art Club, Art Institute of Chicago, Corcoran Gallery Washington DC, Panama Pacific Exposition 1915, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, etc.
Condition: Overall very good condition; no paint loss, repairs or in-painting identified.
