Set of two advertising posters: 1. Original advertising poster: Pastel - l'Ecole des Loisirs, the French publisher of children's literature (founded 1965). Fun image of a creature wearing glasses, so engrossed reading a book that he doesn't realise his tail is on fire. Artwork by the French illustrator, Tomi Ungerer (Jean-Thomas Ungerer; b. 1931). Good condition, minor soiling. Country: France. Year: 1990s. Designer: Tomi Ungerer. Size (cm): 60x41.5; 2. Original vintage advertising poster for Hamilton School, Wheeler, Providence RI. "Learning to read to learn for a lifetime, teaching children with learning differences." Image of a child opening a book with letters flying out of it. Design by the American illustrator and children's author, Chris Van Allsburg (b 1949), who won two Caldecott Medals for US picture book illustration, Jumanji (1981) and The Polar Express (1985), both of which he also wrote and were both later adapted as successful movies. The Hamilton School was founded in 1981 to serve children with learning difficulties such as dyslexia and ADHD, as part of the Wheeler School, which was founded in 1846.
